Sforza Castle

The ancient fourteenth-century fortress was built by the Visconti Dukes to protect Milan from assaults by foreign and local troops. Over time, it has become the official residence of the family and a wonderful noble palace. Here, Renaissance genius,  as Filarete and Leonardo da Vinci worked and lived patronized by the lords of Milan. 

With its cylindrical towers, the Filarete tower, and the ravelin the Sforza Castle is an imposing building in the historical city centre. Today the Sforza Castle is a museum and a cultural events venue. 

It houses the Museum of Ancient Art, where you can admire the famous "Sala delle Asse," a room totally painted by Leonardo da Vinci, then you find the picture gallery and in a special area you can discover the famous "Pietà Rondanini", the last Michelangelo's astonishing work.
